Soil and Water Conservation

Conservation of soil and water is integral part of natural resource management. Considering the sloppy terrain of the landscape in the high ranges, sustainable agriculture is possible only through adopting appropriate soil and water conservation practices. Apart from watershed, PDS also promotes soil and water conservation practices like construction of bunds, stream bank stabilisation, gully plugging, rain pits, agro forestry, etc. Natural water sources like open wells, streams, spring, etc are also developed. Agencies like NABARD, CIDA, BMZ, Inter Cooperation, EEC, etc support PDS to implement such activities.
